GEZE EMD-F/TSA 160: Door Opener & Smoke Switch Wiring Guide

GEZE EMD-F Installation Manual - Door Opener & Smoke Switch Control

This document details the connection procedures for door openers and smoke switch controls (RSZ 6) for the GEZE EMD-F and TSA 160 systems. Please ensure all safety precautions are followed during installation.

Door Opener Connections

Proper wiring of the door opener is critical for correct operation of the active and passive leaves.

  • Active Leaf: Connect the door opener of the active leaf to the active leaf controller connection terminal.
  • Passive (Fixed) Leaf: Connect the door opener of the fixed leaf to the fixed leaf controller connection terminal.

Configuration Parameters

  • Use the designated Parameter to set the type of door opener.
  • Activation Duration: Activation of the door opener is limited to a specific time (typically 4 seconds).
  • Motor Locks: If a motor lock without a feedback signal is used, an activation delay must be set via parameter. This provides the motor lock sufficient time for unlocking before the drive engages.
  • Lock Type Selection: Use exit door openers, magnetic clamps, or 24 V DC motor locks only.
Important: Do not use working current (fail-secure) door openers. Ensure only 24 V DC compatible locks are used.

Electrical Wiring & Terminals

Diode Protection

Connect a free-wheeling diode to the door opener when using DC supply voltage to prevent voltage spikes that could damage the controller.

Input Signals & Logic

  • Locked Door Logic: The input signal blocks the drive selection if the door is locked.
  • Active State Behavior: If the input becomes active while the door is open, the door reverses direction and remains open.
  • Use the appropriate parameter to configure the type of lock signal (inverted or standard).

Terminal Overview

Standard Connection Terminals
Terminal Type Description
TO / GND / 24V Door Opener Power and Control
Input / Output Control Signals (Lock Status, Feedback)

Smoke Switch Control (RSZ 6)

The smoke switch control unit is a critical safety component. For a 2-leaf drive system, the smoke switch control must be connected to the same controller as the drive's reset button.

Installation Requirements

  • Follow the specific installation instructions provided with the smoke switch control unit.
  • The control unit loads the smoke control central with approximately 80 mA.
  • The smoke switch control central is connected to the printed circuit board (PCB) of the TSA 160 / EMD-F.

Emergency Behavior (Fire/Power Failure)

In the event of a fire alarm or power failure:

  1. The door opener and motor are immediately disconnected from the control.
  2. The door closes automatically by means of the spring force.
  3. For 2-leaf doors, both leaves will close.
  4. Note: The closing speed in this mode cannot be adjusted; it is determined by the spring force.

Connection Logic

Drive 1 (Active Leaf) and Drive 2 (Passive Leaf) must be wired such that the smoke switch interrupts the circuit effectively on both.

  • Reset Button: Must be connected to the reset contact.
  • Status Monitoring: The closed position of the fixed leaf is monitored with a reed switch. If the fixed leaf is not closed, the system may prevent the active leaf from locking or operating correctly.
