Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: ED 100 / ED 250
Applicable Safety Standards: ED 100 and ED 250 operators comply with high safety levels and technical requirements. Internal and external safety circuits are cyclically monitored.
During operation, situations may occur resulting in an error message. The operator reacts depending on the severity, ranging from informational displays to switching off automatic functions (emergency operation/door closer mode). In emergency mode, the door can always be manually opened.
Note: Information messages ("In") and error messages ("E0"–"E9") appear on the user interface display and are indicated by the red LED on the internal program switch.
Error Memory Management
- Display: Encoded on the LED. See the error table below.
- Storage: History of errors is stored in memory slots E0 (most recent) to E9.
- Access: View via the user interface display or a handheld device.
- Capacity: Max 9 errors. Identical consecutive errors are not duplicated.
- Navigation: Short press to cycle E0...E9.
10.1 Handling Information "In"
"In" codes indicate specific operating states or non-critical faults that may suppress automatic operation but identify the system status.
Examples
- In 08: Emergency off is pressed. Operator stops automatic functions.
- In 01: A blockage was detected; operator continues to attempt work.
Note: Information messages can escalate to error messages if the condition persists.
10.2 Handling Error Messages "E0" ... "E9"
These messages typically indicate a hardware defect, mounting error, or safety test failure. The system will switch to emergency operation.
How to Reset Error Messages
- Switch Reset: Turn program switch to Off, or press the Reset button on the user interface (cladding must be open).
- Mains Reset: Switch off the power switch. Wait 10 seconds. Switch on again.
Common Faults and Remedies
| Fault | Possible Cause | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| Door can only be opened manually OR door does not open automatically after impulse. | Check Green LED: Does not light up (Power Supply issue). |
|
| Check Red LED: Flashing on power switch. | Control unit detected an error; Emergency operation activated. See "Error Messages" table below. | |
| Program switch is in "Off" or "Output" position. | Set program switch to Automatic or Permanently Open. | |
| Signal from safety sensor on hinge side prevents opening. |
Check 2-digit decimal display for diagnosis.
|
|
| During Installation: Door opens manually with difficulty; closing is very fast. | Brake circuit plug in wrong position. | Reposition plug according to the arm used. (Refer to Manual Page 23, point 5.11). |
| Learning cycle cannot be started. | Program switch in wrong position. | Switch program switch to OFF position. |
| Signal switch-off operator function (4/4a) is active. | Check smoke detector or stop signal wiring at terminal 4/4a. | |
| Internal/external program switch malfunctioning. | Program switch type parameter set incorrectly. | Set the correct type in the program switch type parameter. |
| Internal program switch cable disconnected. | Check and attach cable. | |
| Connection error or switch fault. | Check switch wiring and function. | |
| Door opens automatically but closes after long delay or not at all. | Hold-open time parameter too long. | Reduce hold-open time. |
| Program switch in "Permanently open". | Change program switch setting. | |
| Signal from safety sensor (opposite hinge side) prevents closing. | Check diagnosis LEDs. Check sensor wiring. (Note: Top-left LED flash = wall blanking active). | |
| Signal from connected activator prevents closing. |
Check activator wiring. Ensure closer contact is used.
Troubleshooting tip: Remove signal lines 35, 57, 42, 41 in sequence to localize error. |
|
| Travel speeds differ greatly from set parameters. | Learning cycle done with warm motor (incorrect weight determination). | Repeat learning cycle with a cold motor. |
11. Specific Error Messages & Reference
| Display | LED Display | Meaning / Cause | Troubleshooting |
|---|---|---|---|
| In 01 | None |
Blocking Door is blocked by an obstacle; movement stopped. |
Check door movement in de-energized state. Remove stiffness.
Note: Often triggered by people if sensor range doesn't match opening speed. Increase sensor detection range or opening speed. Verify with walking tests. |
| In 08 | None |
Shutdown Operator Function Contact 4/4a open. Emergency operation (manual only). |
Check emergency command device, lock switch, or safety system at input.
Reset the trigger. If no auto-start, check wiring. |
| In 09 | None |
Upgrade Card Signal Error Card removed or 1st card (container module) not reconnected properly. |
Ensure cards remain in control unit. If using multiple cards, first card used becomes container module and must be reconnected last. |
| In 11 | Red LED lights up |
Hold-open system triggered (Smoke detector or manual release). |
Recommission (DIN 18263-4 requirement): Open door manually to learned angle, or toggle switch to OFF, or use reset buttons.
Ensure smoke detector is not currently triggered. |
| In 14 | None | 24V external supply missing | Check for short circuit in 24V supply components. |
| In 18 | - | EVAC mode is active | System status notification. |
| In 19 | - | SPV mode is active | System status notification. |
| In 23 | None |
Lock Alarm Door blocked in CLOSED position. |
Check if door is locked.
Recommendation: Install a lock switch to detect bolt status and prevent operator damage. |
| In 61 | None |
Communication error (2-leaf) Interruption between devices. |
Check communication cable between operators. Verify correct interface usage on control unit. |
| In 71 | None |
Error of 2nd shutdown path Safety test failed. |
Test automatically repeats during next closing. If error clears, info is deleted. Otherwise, persists. |
| In 72 | None |
Current Measurement Circuit Cyclical test failed. |
Often caused by manual interference during measurement. Test automatically repeats. |
| In 73 | None |
Brake Circuit Test 24h cyclical test failed. |
Can happen if door is moved manually during test. If test fails 10x consecutively, error E 73 is issued. |
| In 91 | None |
DCW Communication Missing DCW device. |
Reconnect device. If not possible, restart operator (Press internal keys simultaneously for >3 sec). |
