GEZE EMD-F Commissioning and Service Instructions | Technical Manual

1. General Information

The DPS (Display Programme Switch) is required for commissioning and service operations. It is used for:

  • Changing drive parameters
  • "Teaching" (adapting) the drive to the door system
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting

Note: Buttons are not pressed for 1 minute in service mode, the system automatically switches back to operational mode.

In service mode, the door remains in the current type of operation (not if teach is activated).

2. Putting into Service: Single Leaf

The putting into service process involves checking installation and setting parameters. Refer to the standard single leaf commissioning procedure:

  1. Ensure mechanical assembly is completed.
  2. Verify electrical installation.
  3. Ensure all sensors are correctly programmed and aligned.

Important: Under parameter 10.6, do not change settings arbitrarily. Ensure the leaf type matches the drive configuration (Lead/Fixed leaf).

3. Putting into Service: Two Leaf

Commissioning a two-leaf system requires specific steps to ensure coordination between leaves.

Pre-requisites:

  • 10.1 Assembly is fully completed.
  • 10.2 Electrical installation is completed (Power and Control lines).
  • 10.3 Sensors are correctly programmed and aligned.
  • 10.4 Set the internal program switches of both drives to "0" (or required standard setting).

Step-by-Step Procedure:

  1. Switch off the fixed leaf control: Disconnect the 24V DC plug.
  2. If necessary, completely close the fixed leaf manually.
  3. Remove any existing programme switch (TPS) and connect the DPS to the moving leaf control.
  4. Switch on the moving leaf control:
    • For DSA-I (Inverse) drives, Error 28 may be displayed at the DPS. This is standard during initial setup.
    • Press the RESET button on the controller if required.

4. Learning Process & Parameters

The drive must "learn" the physical characteristics of the door.

Initiating the Teach-In:

The drive "learning" process is started with the OK button on the DPS.

The control learns the following parameters automatically:

  • Start position
  • Closed position
  • Open position
  • Wall blanking of the Open presence sensor
  • Spring force adjustments

During the process, the display will show the motor current required to hold open the door. If an error occurs, the learning is cancelled with message !4.

Finishing Moving Leaf Settings:

After the learning run:

  • Switch to use Service Mode.
  • Set dC1 (initially configured as 1-leaf drive).
  • Configure Door Type settings:
    • Close presence sensor
    • Open safety sensor
    • Testing safety sensors
    • Door opener / Lock signal
    • If necessary, set parameters for motor-driven lock.

Fixed Leaf Configuration:

  1. Disconnect connection to moving leaf control.
  2. Connect DPS to the fixed leaf control.
  3. Switch on the fixed leaf control.
  4. Press the DSA-I Reset button (if applicable).
  5. Perform "Teach-in" for the fixed leaf similar to the moving leaf.

5. Re-Teaching and Diagnostics

Anytime a mechanical change occurs, the drive must be "re-taught".

Re-Teaching Both Drives:

If both drives have already been in operation, they can be re-taught together ("Retaining" process):

  1. If necessary, remove TPS at fixed leaf control and connect DPS.
  2. Switch to Service Mode.
  3. Confirm "Teach" command.
  4. Monitor the DPS for the sequence: StartClosedOpen.

Common Display Codes:

  • !4: Learning cancelled / Error.
  • 28: DSA-I specific code (often requires Reset).
  • E* codes: Check sensor connections.
