11. Upgrade Cards Overview
DORMA Upgrade Cards are designated components designed to enhance the functional range of ED 100 and ED 250 swing door operators. Upon installation, the control unit and the Upgrade Card exchange data to allocate specific functions to the operator system. These functions remain active as long as the Upgrade Card is installed.
Each card type is color-coded to ensure easy distinction between functions.
Possible Combinations
| Upgrade Card | Colour | ED 100 | ED 250 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-Energy | Blue | No | Yes (X) |
| Full-Energy | Transparent Blue | Yes (X) | No |
| Fire protection | Red | Yes (X) | No |
| Fire protection | Transparent Red | No | Yes (X) |
| Professional | Green | Yes (X) | Yes (X) |
| DCW | Yellow | Yes (X) | Yes (X) |
Upgrade Card Functions
Full-Energy (Blue / Transparent Blue)
Activation of this card unlocks the complete adjustable opening and closing speed range, as well as the full opening and closing force range.
Fire Protection (Red / Transparent Red)
Once activated, the drive unit functions as a hold-open device, and the Full-Energy Function is enabled.
Hold-open Device Operation
Triggering
- System triggering via the DORMA RM-ED detector input with line monitoring.
- Manual triggering by moving the door leaf (approx. 10°).
- Triggering via supply voltage failure.
Display
- A red LED at the hinge-side end cap indicates triggering.
- System display shows message:
In 11.
Reset Procedure
- Program switch: Set switch from position X to OFF.
- Door leaf: Manually open the door to the adjusted opening angle minus 5°.
- Internal user interface: Press and hold L and R keys for > 3 seconds.
Professional (Green)
Enables the following advanced functions:
- Nurse-Bed Function
- Partial Open Function for double-leaf systems
- Extended hold-open time (0 - 180 seconds)
- Flip-Flop-Function
DCW (Yellow)
Enables the following connectivity functions:
- External key switch ST 32x DCW
- SVP DCW motor lock function
- DCW program switch
Installation Guide
The information display should indicate that the system is in stand-by mode.
Step 1: Installation of First Upgrade Card
- Insert the Upgrade Card into the provided slot (refer to diagram No. 9 in manual).
- Status Check: The yellow LED blinks once during insertion.
- Confirmation: The green LED blinks slowly, indicating successful communication.
- The first card becomes the Container Module. Corresponding functions (parameters F1 to F8) are now available.
Step 2: Installation of Further Upgrade Cards
- Ensure the Container Module (first card) is installed.
- Remove the Container Module.
- Insert the new additional Upgrade Card.
- Copy Process: The function is copied to the operator system. The yellow LED indicates completion. The card becomes invalid after this step.
- Remove the now invalid Upgrade Card.
- Re-insert the Container Module.
- Finalization: The control unit recognizes the module and stores new functions on it. A slowly blinking green LED confirms the system is working properly.
Handling & Troubleshooting
- Single Container Module: Each control unit has one Container Module that provides all functions.
- Removal: If the Container Module is removed, functions deactivate after a set period.
- Control Unit Replacement: To replace a control unit, simply unplug the Container Module and insert it into the new unit. Features will synchronize automatically.
- Invalid Cards: The system rejects cards already allocated to another system (Yellow LED blinks fast). The module remains valid for its original system.
- Cross-Allocation Error: If a Container Module from another control is connected, the system rejects it (Yellow and Green LEDs blink quickly). A module can only sync with one control unit. Extended factory settings reset is required to reinstall.
- Defective Modules: If the Container Module is defective, a new set of function modules is required.
- LED Status: Three integrated LEDs show status. A red LED lights up when DCW systems are registered and exchanging telegrams.
Application in Double-Leaf Systems
- Professional: Install the "Professional" card only at the active-leaf operator (if required).
- Fire Protection: Must be installed at both operators.
- Full-Energy: Can be installed at one or both operators.
-
DCW: Install only at the operator where DCW components are connected.
- Exception: If a DCW locking device is used, a "DCW" card must be installed at both operators.
