Connection Diagram & Wiring

Connect the cables to the connection terminals and attach them to the PCB. Please observe the following electrical specifications:

  • The maximum current load at terminal 1, 1G, and 3 amounts to 1.5 A.
  • The cable length must not exceed 30 m when using J-Y (ST) Y 0.8 mm.

Terminal Overview

Note: Some terminals are part of the scope of delivery for specific upgrade cards (e.g., Upgrade Card DCW, Fire Protection Upgrade Card).

Common Connection Terminals
Terminal / Signal Description / Specification
0 V Ground / Common
+ 24 V Power Output (24V DC)
Locking Relay Max. 1 A / 48 V DC/AC
Inputs Signal input, Partial Open, Permanent Open, Exit Only, AUTOMATIC, Off
Safety Sensors Hinge side & Opposite hinge side (Safety sensor)
Night-/Bank Night-/Bank monitoring, Deactivation of operator function

10. Commissioning

The DORMA ED 100 and ED 250 are electromechanical operators. The door can only open and close automatically if the motor gear unit and the control unit work together properly. The control unit requires specific parameters to achieve the best possible operating behavior.

User Interface & Information Display

The control unit is equipped with a user interface and a two-digit information display. This equipment allows you to perform all adjustments stipulated on the parameterization list.

The display and key functions are configured during commissioning to appear correctly regardless of the mounting direction (Standard or Inverted).

Key Functions

Use the four keys on the unit to enter information. Detailed functions are described below:

Key at Bottom
  • Adjustment of mounting direction following a power reset
  • Scrolling through parameters and error messages
  • Reducing the parameter value
  • Opening pulse: Activate key for < 3 seconds
  • Learning cycle: Activate key for > 3 seconds (when PGS is Off)
  • Reset to factory settings: Activate key for > 8 seconds (when PGS is Off)
Key at TOP
  • Scrolling through parameters and error messages
  • Increasing the parameter value
Right Key
  • Open parameter menu: Activate key for > 3 seconds
  • Changing the selected parameters
  • Saving the changed parameter value
Left Key
  • Canceling the parameter adjustment
  • Quitting the parameter menu
Left and Right Key Simultaneously
  • Error acknowledgement: Activate keys for < 3 seconds
  • Reset: Activate keys for > 3 seconds

First Commissioning / Factory Reset Setup

Important: When starting commissioning, the operator must be completely installed, and the door must be closed.

The motor needs to be cold during the subsequent learning cycle.

Switching On Power Supply

Upon power-up, the display will indicate the current status with a sequence of symbols:

Display Symbol Meaning & Action Required
(Two moving segments) The system is being checked. The control unit is waiting for internal signals (max. 1 second).
(Two underscores moving up/down) Action: Activate the key at the bottom. This sets the mounting position (required only during first commissioning). If incorrect, symbols appear upside down.
ED 100 / 250 ... XX XX The device code runs through the display followed by the firmware version.
Rotating o and P System requires further parameterization. (Only during first commissioning or after factory reset).

Required Parameter Adjustments

When the rotating "o" and "P" appear, you must adjust the following parameters:

Parameter Display Range / Values Explanation
Way of Mounting (AS) AS 0: Lintel mounting on hinge side with slide channel (pull-version)
1: Lintel mounting on opposite hinge side with standard arm (push-version)
Defines the installation configuration. Factory setting: 0.
Lintel Depth (rd) rd ED 100: -3 to 30
ED 250: -3 to 50
Indicated in steps of 10 mm. Consult installation drawings for the required dimension. Factory setting: 0.
Door-leaf Width (Tb) Tb ED 100: 7 to 11
ED 250: 7 to 15
Indicated in steps of 100 mm. The rebate is included in the door-leaf width. Factory setting: 10.

After adjusting parameters: Leaving the parameterization mode will show a small, rotating "o" and "O". You are now ready to start the learning cycle.

Learning Cycle

Pre-conditions:

  • Door must be closed.
  • Program switch set to OFF.
  • Motor must be cold.
  • Do not move the door manually or hold it open during the cycle.
  • Safety sensors/activators are temporarily disabled; safeguard the movement range manually.

Learning Cycle Procedure

  1. Start the Cycle: Verify the display shows a small rotating "o" and "O". Press and hold the lower key for 3 seconds.

  2. First Movement: The door performs several movements. Do not interrupt it. The door will stop at an angle of 70°.

  3. Set Open Position: When the door waits at 70°, move the door manually to the desired "open" position and press the lower key to confirm.

  4. Final Calibration: The door performs final movements. If the display shows a rotating "o" and "F", the spring force is insufficient. Increase spring force and restart the cycle.

Result: If successful, the door is ready for operation.
