DORMA ES 200 Maintenance Manual & Service Guide

1. Care and Maintenance

To ensure safety and longevity, the unit must be checked and serviced according to the following schedule:

Service Requirement: Maintenance must be performed by a specialist engineer or authorized personnel.

  • General Units: At least once a year.
  • FST Units (Escape Route): Twice a year.
  • Commissioning: Before first use.

Operators must comply with guidelines for power-operated windows, doors, and gates (BGR 232). For FST units, the German guidelines for automatic sliding doors in escape routes (AutSchR) apply.

2. Wear Parts & Replacement Intervals

Regular inspection and replacement of wear parts are critical for smooth operation. Refer to the table below for recommended service intervals:

Wear Parts Maintenance Schedule
Component Maintenance / Replacement Interval
Track Rollers Every 2 years
Rechargeable Battery Pack Every 3 years
Rubber End Stops Check at every service
Track Rail Every 5 years
Toothed Belt Every 1,000,000 opening/closing cycles
Floor Guides Check at every service
ES 200 CO48 Rubber Belt replace every year (Order No: 9925528101150)
DAC 300 Rubber Belt Replace every year

Note: Brushes are optional components. We recommend concluding a maintenance contract with DORMA.

3. Cleaning Instructions

Safety First: During cleaning, the program switch must be set to OFF or PERMANENT OPEN to avoid inadvertent door movements.

  • General Surfaces (Aluminium, glass, covers): Clean with a damp cloth and normal commercial detergents.
  • Light Barriers: Clean with a dry cloth.
  • Floor Guide Rails: Keep clear of debris and clean regularly.

4. Service Display Indicators

For models ES 200 / ES 200-2D / ES 200 CO48 / DAC 300, the service display informs the operator when maintenance is due. Intervals can be set via PDA based on time (e.g., every 6 months) or cycles (e.g., 80,000 cycles).

LED Status Codes

  • Display illuminates permanently: Max. number of opening/closing cycles reached.
  • Display blinks (every 0.5 seconds): Time interval expired.
  • Display illuminates for 10s, then blinks for 10s: Both time and cycle intervals reached.

5. Check-up & Test Cycle

Test Cycle: (Not for ES 200 Easy) A test cycle can be performed using a PDA to optimize door performance.

Inspection Checklist

  • Is the derailment guard / counter roller adjusted correctly? (0.5 mm gap)
  • Do door panels run smoothly without grinding noise?
  • Is the electromechanical locking adjusted correctly? (> 1mm)
  • Are all shortened wires provided with end splices?
  • Are all connectors plugged in firmly?
  • Are cables fixed properly with no obstacles in the driving phase?
  • For ES 200 "Emergency opening": Is serial connection with "internal sensor" performed?

Following successful commissioning, documentation and a briefing must be handed over to the facility operator.

6. Program Switch Settings & Operation

The program switch controls the behavior of the automatic door. The EMERGENCY OFF pushbutton is often located nearby.

Switch Positions (5.1)

OFF
The system cannot be used automatically. If a locking device is present, the door is locked mechanically. (Access allowed via optional Night/Bank function if configured).
AUTOMATIC
The door opens to full width when a person/object enters the detector range and closes after the preset hold-open time.
EXIT ONLY
The external detector is deactivated (one-way traffic). The door opens only for internal detector activation and closes after the hold-open time.
PARTIAL OPEN
The door opens to a reduced width (preset) when triggered. Useful for winter to reduce drafts.
PERMANENT OPEN
The door opens at creep speed to full width and remains open until the setting is changed.

Setting the PARTIAL OPEN Function (5.2)

To set a specific partial opening width:

  1. Close the door.
  2. Set switch to PERMANENT OPEN (door opens at creep speed).
  3. When the door reaches the desired width, immediately switch to PARTIAL OPEN.
  4. The door stops, stores the position, and performs a closing cycle.

Malfunction LED: Indicates a fault that might constrain the escape route. The door will travel to the "open position" and halt.

7. Emergency Functions

EMERGENCY OFF Pushbutton (5.3)

(Optional for ES 200 Easy and ES 200)

  • If the switch is in AUTOMATIC, PARTIAL OPEN, or EXIT ONLY mode:
  • Push the EMERGENCY OFF button to interrupt the motor circuit.
  • The door halts and leaves can be moved manually.

Night-/Bank Function (5.4)

(Optional)

When the program switch is set to OFF:

  • The door is accessible from the outside via an external activator.
  • The door unlocks, opens, and then closes (immediately or after a hold-open time).
  • The door relocks automatically.

8. Start-up After Power Failure (5.5)

Upon power restoration, the control unit performs a self-check (approx. 5 seconds) for safety.

  • The door closes at low (creep) speed.
  • The door resumes the previously preset program function.
