dormakaba ED100/250: Barrier-Free Toilet Upgrade Guide

dormakaba ED100/250 Technical Documentation - Barrier-Free Toilet Upgrade

Functional Description

The upgrade card “Barrier-Free Toilet” provides the in and outputs of the control unit with the required special functions and thus allows easy and direct connection of the respective components.

Note: Following the successful installation of the upgrade card, a power reset is required to ensure that the system takes on the functions.

System Overview

The door has to be equipped with a fail-safe electric strike or a suitable motorised emergency escape lock. Furthermore, the assembly is provided with a lever handle on the inside and a knob on the outside. This allows the door to be opened from the inside at any time, while a corresponding key is required to unlock the door from the outside.

Entering the barrier-free toilet

While the toilet is vacant, the status indicator on the outside is green. When a user has triggered an automatic opening cycle via the push button on the outside, the door will close automatically on expiry of the adjusted hold-open time.

As soon as the door is fully closed again, the user can deactivate the external push button via the push button on the inside. At the same time, the external status indicator switches from green to red in order to indicate that the toilet is occupied. Also, the internal light indicator turns red to show the user inside the toilet that the door is now locked.

Leaving the barrier-free toilet

Users can open the door either automatically via the internal push button or manually by using the lever handle.

As soon as the door opens, the system sends a 24 V DC message to terminal 1G, which can be used to flush the toilet automatically. The door closes on expiry of the adjusted hold-open time. As soon as the door is fully closed, the status indicator on the outside switches from red to green and the light indicator on the inside goes out.

In addition, large-surface push buttons are installed on the inside and on the outside of the toilet while a status indicator (vacant/occupied) on the outside and an occupied light indicator on the inside show the current status.

As an option, the system allows the installation of emergency push buttons on the inside and on the outside to open the door quickly in the event of an emergency.

Recommendation: dormakaba recommends integrating the barrier-free toilet in an additional emergency call system (by others).

Emergency opening from the outside

The system is ready for connection of an emergency push button. In the event of an emergency, users can deactivate the locking function and the door can only be opened manually. In this case, the door no longer operates automatically.

As an alternative, users can open the door from the outside with a key. In both cases, the status indicator on the outside switches from red to green and the light indicator on the inside goes out.
