Chapter 19: 8816 Closer Adjustments

NOTICE: Closer supplied with a size 2 spring setting.

1 19.1.1 Spring Force Adjustment

Use the spring force adjustment screw (6) to increase or decrease the closing force.

2 19.1.2 Sweep Speed (1) Adjustment

Controls the door closing speed from approximately 70 to 10.

  • Increase Speed: Turn sweep valve Counter-Clockwise (CCW).
  • Decrease Speed: Turn sweep valve Clockwise (CW).

3 19.1.3 Latch Speed (2) Adjustment

Controls the final latching speed from approximately 10 to 0.

  • Increase Speed: Turn valve Counter-Clockwise (CCW).
  • Decrease Speed: Turn valve Clockwise (CW).

4 19.1.4 Backcheck (3) Adjustment

Provides resistance to opening in the door area from approximately 110 to 70.

  • Increase Resistance: Turn valve Clockwise (CW).
  • Decrease Resistance: Turn valve Counter-Clockwise (CCW).

5 19.1.5 Backcheck Positioning (5) Adjustment

Adjusting backcheck positioning will advance the engagement point approximately 15. The unit is shipped from the factory fully "ON".

Important: Backcheck positioning MUST be turned ON for arm and track applications.
  • Turn OFF: Turn valve Counter-Clockwise (CCW).
  • Turn ON: Rotate valve Clockwise (CW).

6 19.1.6 Delayed Action (4) Adjustment

Adjusts the hold-open delay time for the door area from approximately 110 to 75.

  • Increase Delay: Turn valve Counter-Clockwise (CCW).
  • Decrease Delay: Turn valve Clockwise (CW).
