3.2 Functions
3.2.1 Operating modes
The ED 100, ED 250 can be operated in 2 ways, as a door closer or as an automatic swing door operator.
-
Door closer mode: (Parameter
hd = 1) Optimized for manual access. The optionally available Power Assist function is intended for doors mainly opened manually where door closer-like behavior is desired. -
Automatic mode: (Parameter
hd = 0) Designed for automatic access after an impulse from a motion detector or push button.
3.2.2 Power Assist function (PA)
Activated in door closer mode. Servo support is provided during manual opening, adjusting automatically to the set door closer size. Support strength is adjustable to meet DIN 18040, DIN Spec 1104, CEN/TR 15894, BS 8300/2100, and document "M" requirements up to EN 6.
The smallest adjustable opening force is 23 N (5 lbf). This function can meet EN 1154 requirements while providing barrier-free access. Note: Combination with Push & Go or wind load control is not possible.
3.2.3 Push & Go
Activated in automatic mode (Parameter PG = 1). Automatic opening is carried out if the door is manually moved from the "CLOSE" position by an angle of 4° in the "OPEN" direction.
3.2.4 Wind load control
Ideal for external doors exposed to wind loads or interior doors with pressure differences. In automatic mode, it monitors travel speed and adjusts for deviations. With the Full Energy Upgrade Card, the operator can provide up to 150 N at the main closing edge. The electronic end stop supports the last 10° of closing.
3.2.5 Evacuation function EVAC
In the event of an alarm, standard operators switch off. With EVAC activated (requires Professional Upgrade Card), the operator deactivates motion detectors/safety sensors and switches to low energy operation instead of full shutdown. Power Assist remains active for barrier-free access.
3.2.6 SPV smoke extraction/pressure ventilation function
Adaptable for environments with smoke extraction/pressure ventilation systems. Requires Professional Upgrade Card. Control via opener/closer contact on the 43/3 feedback contact.
3.3 Low energy product
The ED 100/250 can be configured to meet Low Energy Operator requirements (EN 16005, DIN 18650, ANSI 156.19, BS 7036-4). Safety is achieved by reduced dynamic/static forces, low travel speeds, and force limitation.
3.4 Operating elements
The control unit features a user interface with 4 keys and a 2-digit display for configuration. Key functions adapt to mounting direction.
Key Functions
- Bottom key: Adjust mounting direction, scroll parameters/errors, decrease value, opening impulse, learning cycle, factory reset.
- Top key: Scroll parameters/errors, increase value.
- Right key: Open menu, change parameter, save value.
- Left key: Cancel, close menu.
- Left + Right keys: Error acknowledgement, Reset.
3.5 Upgrade Cards
Extend functionality of the ED 100/ED 250. The first installed card acts as a container module.
