Besam SW300 & SW150 Mechanical Installation Guide

Assa Abloy SW300 & SW150 Mechanical Installation Guide | PUSH Arm System

Overview

The operator can be mounted on either side of the door header depending on the type of doors. The door is controlled with a push or pull arm system. This guide covers the PUSH arm system.

Important Note: Consider all power wire entry locations and signaling wires before preparing the back plate. If a coordination unit is to be installed on a double door installation, mount the coordinator base with rotor before mounting the control unit.

Make sure to mount the drive unit at measurement A and the control unit at measurement B. If there are sharp edges after drilling cable outlets, chamfer the edges to avoid damage to cables.

Mounting Measurements & Installation Types

Standard measurements for the installation variants:

  • Measurement A: 192 mm
  • Measurement B: 557 mm

1. Besam SW300 Fire Door Installation

Standard mounting configuration for fire door applications.

2. Besam SW150 Installation

Configuration for SW150 operator (without spring).

3. Besam SW300 Inverse Installation

Specific dimensions for inverse mounting: 150 mm vertical clearance / 42 mm offset.

PUSH Arm System Configuration

When installing the PUSH arm system, correct shaft extension selection is critical based on the reveal depth.

Shaft Extension Selection Guide

Reveal Depth (mm) Required Shaft Extension Length Part Number Reference (Suffix)
2 - 25 mm 35 mm -
25 - 45 mm 51 mm -
45 - 75 mm 71 mm -
75 - 95 mm 101 mm / 121 mm -

Refer to mechanical drawings for X and Y coordinate positioning relative to the hinge center line (CL).

Installation Procedure

1

Mounting Plate Preparation

Drill holes according to the template measurements (DIN Right or DIN Left). Ensure clearance for the cover.

DIN Right / DIN Left Dimensions: Refer to template specific measurements for 246mm, 150mm, 180mm spacing.

2

Spring Pre-tension (SW300 Only)

Note: This step applies only to Besam SW300, not SW150.

  1. Pre-tension the spring (approx 20°).
  2. Secure the pre-tension using the locking pin.
3

Arm Assembly

Let the stop arm locator and the stop arm be loose initially. Do not tighten yet.

  • Align the arm with the operator mark.
  • Align the marks between the arm and adaptor.
  • Fasten the arm system to the door.
4

Final Tightening & Setup

  • Hold the door slightly open and remove the start position pin.
  • Ensure the door is closed.
  • Tighten the four screws on the arm adapter. Torque: 15 Nm.
  • Tighten the main arm bolt. Torque: 50 Nm (or 14 Nm / 10 lbf·ft as specified for smaller fasteners).

For available extensions, see the table on page 23. Continue setup on page 54 of the full manual.
